Hello family, friends, fellow-bloggers, and world at large,
The internet has given us the rare opportunity to connect in ways that otherwise would be impossible, extend friendships that are often hard to maintain, and in the this specific case it has afforded Karissa and I the chance to share with all of you a little bit about our friendship, our travels, and our lives on opposite coasts of the United States. As many of you may know, Karissa has just completed her Masters program at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA), while I am expected to begin my Masters program this fall at George Washington University (Washington, DC). But alas, let us not get too ahead of ourselves. We will have plenty of time to update you on our current and future life plans. But for now, let us heed the words of Julie Andrews' Maria and "start from the very beginning, a very good place to start"...
Karissa and I first met in a BYU women's studies course. After working together on a group project Karissa and I discovered that we had both applied for the BYU Jerusalem program for spring 2008. One day Ms. Magelsen approached me in class and said, "hey, I asked for you to be my roommate and they said that was fine but that both parties have to request one another, so you'd better go request me too. " That seemingly threatening invitation was it...I was a goner and from there our friendship blossomed. Karissa and I became the best of roommates and the best of friends. Together we have traveled to Austria, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Spain, France, England, Scotland and of course Ireland. We have bunked together on the East coast and the West and have experienced both the ups and downs of life's collegiate, romantic and spiritual roller coasters.
While this stage of our adulthood lends itself well to important discussion making, job-hunting, spouse-finding, and overall uncomfortable life changes we welcome all of you to journey with us. Come read of our adventures, revel in our pictures, and partake in our friendship that has already blessed our lives and extended our horizons. May I remind you once again, this is just the beginning. Welcome to our blog...
